Completing the expansion of the Pleiku 2 500kV substation bay

At 2:46 a.m on 18 December, the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) coordinated with relevant agencies to check, accept and energize the expansion item of bay at Pleiku 2 500kV substation (Gia Lai province). This is a item under the Project of the 500kV transmission line, circuit 3, Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 section.

Expansion item of bay at 500kV Pleiku 2 substation has been successfully energized

The project is invested by the EVN’s National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), CPMB on behalf of the investor manages and operates the project, the Power Transmission Company 3 takes over and manages the operation after completion.

The scale of the bay expansion at the 500kV Pleiku 2 substation: construction and installation of equipment for two line bays connecting to the Doc Soi 500kV substation (Quang Ngai province) in the existing reserve land, including 02 sets of horizontal compensators, replacing 06 existing single-phase breakers with new ones with parameters suitable to the grid structure; equipping optical amplifier; supplementing optical interface modules to existing optical transmission equipment; equipping remote circuit-breaking transmission devices for protective relays.

The completion of energizing the expansion item of bay at Pleiku 2 500kV substation expresses an important meaning to promote other work items of the 500kV circuit 3 power line project. This is a typical achievement made by CPMB to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Vietnam Electricity Traditional Day (21 December 1954 – 21 December 2020).

The 500kV circuit 3 power line project aims to enhance the transmission capacity of the 500kV power grid linking regions of the national power system, contributing to ensuring power supply in the South in the coming period, optimizing power production - transmission in the operation of the national power system. According to the investor's striving plan, the Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 section and the whole project will be energized in the first quarter of 2021 and the third quarter of 2021 respectively.
