Completion capacity increasing of Nong Cong 220kV Substation: Strengthening electricity security for Thanh Hoa province

At 11:47 p.m. on July 17, 2024, the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) coordinated with relevant units to successfully energize and put into operation the second transformer item of the Project, increasing the capacity of Nong Cong 220kV substation. After completion, this substation's capacity was doubled.

The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and controlled by CPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company No.1.

The project is implemented within the existing Nong Cong 220kV Substation located in Te Loi commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province.

Second transformer of  Nong Cong 220kV substation

Project scale: New installation of 01 220/115/23kV-250MVA transformer; New installation: 01 total 220kV feeder bay, 01 total 110kV feeder bay. The project also equips control-protection, measurement, and SCADA parts to the existing computer control system compatible with the scale of newly installed elements and equipped with a fire protection system suitable for the newly installed transformer AT1.

Once completed, the project will help enhance the capacity to meet the high-growth load requirements of Thanh Hoa province; support and reduce load for the existing Nghi Son and Thanh Hoa 220kV substations; strengthen regional power system connectivity, improve safety, reliability, and stability for regional and national power system operations; limit capacity loss in the transmission network, increase production and business efficiency of the National Power Transmission Corporation.

In particular, energizing transformer AT1 at Nong Cong 220kV substation supports the work of power outage on 220kV and 110kV lines in Thanh Hoa area to ensure pulling wires at the intersection parts of urgent key lines under urgent construction throughout Thanh Hoa province.
