Completion of the Upgrading to 22kV medium voltage in Ho Chi Minh City

On 2nd July 2017, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) has completed the upgrading of the medium voltage grid from 15 kV to 22kV up across the city, "arriving destination" 2.5 years earlier than planned.

Removal of 15 kV equipment to replace with 22 kV equipment  by the linesmen

In 2012, EVNHCMC started to upgrade the medium voltage grid from 15 kV to 22 kV according to the national standard for medium voltage of 22 kV and increased the transmission capacity of the medium voltage lines, improved the reliability of electricity supply and reduced the rate of power losses.

EVNHCMC asserts, the work to upgrade the voltage level did not affect the use of the power of the people and businesses buying power at low voltage. During the deployment, for the customers who have used private substation, the units under EVNHCMC prepared a detailed plan and provided advance notice to customers from 1 to 2 years. In addition, EVNHCM also had the option to lend the transformers and equipment to customers if they had not timely prepared.

The subsidiaries of EVNHCMC implemented the construction during the weekend (Sunday) in order not to affect the production and business of the customers and the people of the city.
