During the meeting, Mr. Hayakawa Yuho, General Director of the Jica Asia-Pacific and Oceania Department, expressed his appreciation to EVN’s leadership for their warm reception. He also outlined JICA’s future development strategies, sharing insights on the agency's upcoming plans.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation conducts discussions with EVN on the afternoon of July 30th.
Mr. Hayakawa Yuho emphasized that Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is a highly significant partner for JICA, particularly in the context of advancing the energy transition process in various countries, including Vietnam. He also expressed a keen interest in understanding Vietnam's future energy development strategies and energy transition plans, both at the national level and within EVN specifically, to identify potential areas for fruitful cooperation between the two parties.
On behalf of EVN, Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh expressed sincere thanks and high appreciation for the support JICA has provided to EVN in developing the power system, including power plant projects, transmission lines, substations, and power grid projects. He also conveyed a strong desire for continued and enhanced cooperation between JICA and EVN on ongoing development.
EVN Vice President also noted that the Vietnamese government has made a strong commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 at COP26. To fulfill these commitments, Vietnam Electricity is striving to implement energy transition solutions and develop green energy sources. Therefore, EVN looks forward to receiving financial resources as well as technical assistance from JICA on the application of new technology to the energy transition process.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed technological solutions to ensure energy security and various issues related to energy transition in Vietnam. The leaders of both sides agreed to continue detailed discussions to promote further cooperation in the coming time.
