The electricity generation output of the whole system in April 2021 reached 22.19 billion kWh, achieving 101.7% of the plan. The accumulated amount of the electricity output in 4 months reached 80.67 billion kWh, up 6.4% over the same period last year. In which, the dispatching rate of some main power sources is as follows:
+ Hydropower output reached 18.39 billion kWh, an increase of 59.3% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 22.8% of the total electricity output of the whole system.
+ Coal thermal power output reached 41.48 billion kWh, down 8.7% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 51.4% of the total electricity output of the whole system.
+ Gas turbine output reached 10.55 billion kWh, down 16.4% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 13.1% of the total electricity output of the whole system.
+ Renewable energy output (wind power, solar power, biomass power) reached 9.5 billion kWh, an increase of 156.9% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 11.8% of the total electricity output of the whole system (of which the output of solar power alone reached 8.73 billion kWh, an increase of nearly 3 times over the same period).
+ Oil fired thermal power output is insignificant at 02 million kWh.
+ The imported electricity amount was481 million kWh, down 62.5% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 0.6% of the total electricity output of the whole system.
The power sales of EVN in April 2021 attained 20.01 billion kWh, up 16.51% compared to April 2020. The accumulated power sales of 4 months attained 70.84 billion kWh, up 6.74% over the same period in 2020.
Regarding business and customer service: In the first 4 months of 2021, the rate of customers paying electricity bills without cash achieved 67.81%. The percentage of non-cash payments of electricity bills all over EVN was over 90%.
Regarding investment activities, in April 2021, both power units of Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower Project were put into commercial operation. Regarding investments in power grids, in the first 4 months of 2021, 34 grid projects have been started; 36 110-500 kV grid projects have been completed and energized, includingimportant grid projects being energisedlike: Pha Lai - Hai Duong 220 kV transmission line rehabilitation; transmission line to supply power for Long Son petrochemical complex; Hoa Binh - Chem and Ha Dong - Chem 220 kV transmission lines, My Tho - Duc Hoa 500 kV transmission line and Duc Hoa 500 kV substation; especially, Thuy Nguyen 220kV substation is the first digital substation to be put into operation.
Since the end of April 2021, new COVID-19 outbreak has appeared in many provinces/cities, the number of COVID-19 cases in the community has increased rapidly, complicatedly, unpredictably and the outbreak is likely to occur widespread. In order to meet the requirements of safe and uninterrupted operation of the national power system, EVN has directed its member organizations to implement urgent measures to cope with the complicated developments of the new COVID-19 outbreak.
Some tasks in May 2021
In May 2021, the average daily power consumption of the whole system is expected to be 774.3 million kWh/day, the peak load is estimated at 39,859 MW. With the prolonged hot and sunny weather in all three regions, the national electricity consumption is likely to surpass the old peak to set a new record.
Objectives of the power system operation in May 2021:
- Well performing the dual task of both controlling the COVID-19 pandemic andensuring the supply of electricity for the country's socio-economic development;dispatching coal-fired power and gas turbines in line with the capacity mix in order to make the most of renewable energy; regulating hydropower reservoirs in accordance with the annual plan and ensuring water supply for downstream areas.
- Power Generation Corporations have to secure the highest availability of generating units in the dry months of the year.
- Safely and reliably operating the transmission grid, especially the North-South 500 kV system.
Regarding investment activities: Meeting the time schedule of power plant projects and the energizing schedule of important grid projects such as upgradingcapacity of Vinh Tan, Di Linh, My Tho 500 kV substaions, etc.; Ninh Phuoc, Van Phong 220 kV substations, etc.; 220 kV branch after Viet Tri substations; accelerating the progress of power projects in service of absorbing power from renewable energy projects, striving to achieve the goal that by July 2021 all the power from renewable energy projects that have been put into operation will be fundamentally absorbed.
