Digital transformation - EVN makes a breakthrough step

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is considered one of the pioneering state-owned enterprises in the field of digital transformation, contributing to improving production and business efficiency, corporate governance and bringing many benefits to customers and partners.

Improving operational efficiency

In 2021, with the implementation of the theme "Digital transformation in Electricity of Vietnam", EVN has made a strong remark in the application of science and technology, digital transformation in all fields of operation. EVN has deployed Digital Office software to its units at level 4; issued 27,000 electronic identification codes for units to send/receive documents on the national document communication axis; put into use the Business Intelligence reporting system (BI); completed building the application to serve employees (SmartEVN); held thousands of online meetings.

On the construction sites, EVN and its member units have piloted the electronic document management, progress management, and construction log modules; The surveillance camera systems on the construction sites are integrated with smart applications such as fingerprint, face, and vehicle license-plate recognition. The units have initially completed the application of AI and artificial intelligence models to automatically check, detect anomalies, remotely control the construction site, and site quality; apply the UAV, BIM, 3D technologies in survey and design…

EVN launching the EVNCONNECT digital ecosystem - a great step forward on the digital transformation roadmap

In production activities, units have applied QR codes to digitize and set up a database of assets and equipment. Many units have experimented applying AI technology in image processing and recognition to monitor line routes, key pole positions, or landslides; using UAV in periodical inspection and corridor of the power grid, unmanned substation; field application (Digital Workforce) for distribution and transmission, etc.

Telecommunications and IT infrastructure that play a key role in the digital transformation process are also focused on deploying with 5 key tasks: setting up a cloud computing system (EVN's Cloud); implementing an integrated axis and shared data management ESB/MDM; building shared data and database architecture; selecting and building application platform architecture (Platform); building a network security operations center (SOC), etc.

Bringing benefits to customers

In particular, in 2021, EVN will continue to promote and improve the quality of electricity service provision on digital platforms. The rate of electricity purchase and sale contract signing transactions and electronic documents reached 97.89%, an increase of 20.32% compared to that in 2020. Power corporations have deployed new methods of electricity payment to bring convenience to customers such as QRCode, Mobile Money; upgraded website and App of Customer Care, applied AI in customer care, etc. In which, connecting payment via Mobile Money application increases convenience for electricity customers, especially the ones in rural, remote and isolated areas.

Especially, recently, EVN has launched the EVNCONNECT Digital Ecosystem, which connects and integrates with the national digital platforms, the digital platforms of the industries, and so on. Typically, electricity services connecting to the National Population Database through the National Public Service Portal will bring convenience and simplicity to customers, etc., in the National Population Database. EVN has pioneered in connecting electronic invoices (E-Invoice) and transmitting and receiving data with the Electronic Invoice System of the General Department of Taxation.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of EVN's Member Board, said, with more than 29 million electricity customers, EVN is an ideal and potential environment for partners to coordinate and increase services to maximize benefits for customers, meet the increasing needs of the people, narrow the “digital divide” between urban/rural areas, and is a solid premise contributing to the success of implementing the e-Government development strategy, towards a digital government in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030.
