At the meeting, EVN General Director Dang Hoang An briefly introduced to Mr. Daniel Ahn some features of Vietnam Electricity as well as the achievements that EVN has gained in their development path. At present, the power system of Vietnam is of the second biggest scale among ASEAN countries and stands 30th in the world. The total installed capacity is 38,800 MW.
Regarding customer service activities, EVN has made a lot of improvements in terms of quality. Electricity supply reliability and customer service quality have been increasingly better.
The General Director said that for the time being Vietnam is on the way to steadily develop electricity market in different stages, namely operation of competitive power generating market, wholesale market and retail market. Besides, Vietnam is very active in researching and developing renewable energy and green energy resources, etc.
On behalf of the Mission, Mr. Daniel Ahn expressed his sincere thanks to EVN General Director for such an open information sharing on the current energy development status in Vietnam. At the same time, he also exchanged some experiences on renewable energy development encouragement of the US Government, as well as expressed some general views on the Vietnamese economy under TPP’s impacts, etc.
Mr. Daniel Ahn hoped that in the upcoming time, the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the US, as well as between enterprises of the two countries will be tightened, heightened and further strengthened.
