EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai engages in talks with Danish Energy Agency and Embassy

On June 18th, 2024, in Hanoi, EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai welcomed a delegation from the Denmark Energy Agency and the Denmark Embassy to discuss future collaboration in the energy sector.

The Denmark delegation comprised notable figures including Mr. Kristoffer Böttzauw, Director of the Denmark Energy Agency; Mr. Ulrik Eversbusch, Director of Global Cooperation at the Denmark Energy Agency; Ms. Tran Hong Viet, Senior Program Manager at the Denmark Embassy; Ms. Sharissa Devina Funk, Energy Counselor at the Denmark Embassy; and Mr. Rasmus Munch Sørensen, Energy Advisor for the Vietnam-Denmark Energy Partnership Program.

Representative of the Danish delegation, Director of the Denmark Energy Agency, Mr. Kristoffer Böttzauw commended the significant progress of Vietnam’s electricity sector and EVN over the past years.

During the meeting, Denmark Energy Agency officials highlighted key aspects of Denmark's electricity sector. Denmark is at the forefront of carbon emission reduction efforts. The Danish government has set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045. The country boasts over 30 years of experience in renewable energy development, particularly in offshore wind power development.

Denmark is eager to expand its cooperation and share its expertise with EVN in developing offshore wind power in Vietnam.

EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the Denmark Energy Agency and Denmark Embassy’s keen interest in Vietnam's energy sector and EVN. EVN leaders also appreciated the cooperation between Denmark and EVN and its member units, which included workshops on offshore wind power development, load forecasting, and smart grid operation.

EVN leaders also updated the delegation on the load demand increase in Vietnam, the operation of coal-fired power plants under EVN's management, and various aspects of Power Development Plan VIII.

At the meeting, EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai and the delegation also discussed ongoing collaborative efforts, such as the flexible operation of coal-fired power plants, demand-side management, and the integration of renewable energy within the framework of the Denmark-Vietnam Energy Partnership (DEPP3).
