EVN Vice President meets Siemens Energy leadership

On the afternoon of August 6th in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), welcomed and held discussions with Mr. Fors Thorbjorn, Chairman and CEO of Siemens Energy Asia-Pacific.

The EVN Vice President expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Fors Thorbjorn at EVN.

Both parties commended the strong and fruitful partnership between EVN and Siemens in recent years. During the meeting, Mr. Fors Thorbjorn conveyed Siemens' interest in deepening collaboration, particularly in the area of energy transition. Siemens identified several specific areas for potential cooperation, including the digitalization of EVN’s gas power plants, the introduction of green hydrogen technology, advancements in wind turbine technology—particularly for offshore wind and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology for efficiently transporting power from offshore wind farms to the mainland.

Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh provided Mr. Fors Thorbjorn with an overview of Vietnam’s electricity growth rate, the current structure and installed capacity of power sources, as well as the potential for system development. He also discussed the challenges posed by the recent surge in renewable energy sources in Vietnam.

EVN is hopeful that Siemens Energy will continue to offer support by sharing information and expertise in areas such as power source management, grid operation, smart grid solutions, and strategies to stabilize the grid as the share of renewable energy increases. Additionally, EVN seeks Siemens' insights into energy management and transition skills.
