EVN and EDF discuss possibility of cooperation in electricity transmission and distribution

On November 20, in Hanoi, EVN’s Vice President Vo Quang Lam received and worked with Mr. Lionel Besombes, Asia Pacific Regional Director of EDF International Networks, on cooperation possibilities in the field of communications. electricity transmission and distribution.

EVN and EDF have developed a long-term strategic partnership, with good cooperation over the past time.

With respect to general information about EVN, Vice President Vo Quang Lam said that EVN and its member units are managing more than 29,900MW of power capacity, accounting for about 38% of the total capacity of Vietnam's power system. At the same time, EVN is managing and operating the entire transmission line, ensuring the country's energy security. In the field of business and power distribution, EVN is serving about 30 million customers, with a customer growth rate of about 5%/year. EVN also achieved many achievements in digital transformation, improving the quality of electricity services, and bringing good experiences to customers.

Mr. Lionel Besombes, Asia Pacific Regional Director of EDF International Networks, thanked EVN for the useful information shared. At the meeting, Mr. Lionel Besombes and EDF experts at the online conference point in France exchanged some information and EDF's experience on solutions to improve power quality on the grid and reduce power losses, conduct meter inspection, smart grid development, and so on.

Discussion topics were interacted with and deeply exploited between EDF and EVN delegates. The two sides agreed to continue holding working sessions to exchange experiences and open up opportunities for cooperation in the future.

As for EDF, this Group has about 39,000 employees, managing and operating about 1.4 million km of power lines, serving more than 37.2 million customers in France. EDF always pays special attention to improving and modernizing power grid operations and investing about 61 billion Euros in the period of 2021 - 2035 for power system development.
