IHI Japan is a heavy industrial corporation with business activities in many fields, including energy and environment. In Vietnam, IHI Japan has participated in providing consulting services, equipment supply, maintenance, etc. at many large thermal power plant projects such as Nghi Son I, Thai Binh I, BOT Van Phong I, Quang Trach I, Vinh Tan II, Duyen Hai III MR, etc.

According to Mr. Yoshii Konosuke - Director of IHI Vietnam, IHI Japan Corporation is a world pioneer in conducting co-firing trials since 2014 and has experience in biomass fuel conversion in Japan. With technology and experience in the field of decarbonization, IHI looks forward to supporting EVN in preparing a decarbonization roadmap for EVN's thermal power plants.
In addition, in 2023 IHI participated in phase 1 of the project "Research and development of green ammonia supply chain for power generation in Vietnam" by the Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), financed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan. Based on the results of cooperation and research of phase 1, NEDO shall conduct an assessment and consider whether they can continue to support the implementation of phase 2 of the project.
Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors Dang Hoang An respectfully thanked IHI for its interest in the energy sector in Vietnam as well as EVN's energy transition plan. EVN leaders also assigned specialized departments to research cooperation possibilities as proposed by IHI, opening up opportunities for cooperation to successfully implement energy transition. Regarding NEDO's research, EVN and IHI shall also continue to discuss specifically to comply with regulations.
