On 28 August 2021, the Government issued Resolution No. 97/NQ-CP to unified a plan to support electricity tariff and electricity bills reduction (phase 5) for power customers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Whereby:
1. Supporting electricity bills reduction subjects meet the following conditions:
- Power customers: are factories or production facilities located in provinces and centrally-run cities as of 25 August 2021, which are implementing social distancing in accordance with Directive No. 16/CT-TTg of the PM and is maintaining production in the following areas:
(i) Seafood and seafood products processing and preserving enterprises;
(ii) Vegetable processing and preserving enterprises;
(iii) Export manufacturing enterprises with 2020 export turnover of more than 1 billion USD.
- Customers who are buying power energy directly from EVN’s Corporation/Company or other power retailers.
- The list of targeted factories and production facilities to power companies certified by the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities based on business registration and actual production of enterprises in the area.
2. Regarding the electricity tariff discount level: 10% discount (before tax) on electricity bills for customers in item 1.
3. The electricity bills discount time: for power customers in item 1 is 03 months in invoicing time from September to the end of November 2021.
4. Other electricity tariff and electricity bills reduction subjects: continue to comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 55/NQ-CP dated 2 June 2021 and Resolution No. 83/NQ-CP dated 31 July 2021 by the Government.
5. After electricity tariff and electricity bills reduction implementation in item 1 as above: will continue to apply electricity tariff to power customers according to the provisions of Decision No. 648/QD-BCT dated 20 March 2019 of the MoIT.
To urgently implement the 5th electricity tariff and electricity bill discount, EVN is focusing on directing and guiding Power Corporations, Power Companies, Customer Care Centers to immediately review, prepare and carry out the related work.
Thus, up to now, although EVN has also faced many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in the spirit of actively sharing with the difficulties of power customers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and isolation facilities, medical facilities for pandemic prevention and control, EVN promptly reported to the PM and Ministries for permission to implement the reduction of electricity tariff and electricity bills in 5 phases in 2020 and 2021 with a total amount of more than VND16,950 billion.
In addition to 5 phases of electricity tariff and electricity bills discount to contribute to alleviating difficulties caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all employees of EVN have been continued joining hands with the community to implement many support activities, supporting pandemic prevention and control for localities and medical facilities. From the end of April 2021 until now, EVN and its member units have donated to support pandemic prevention and control activities with a total amount of about VND500 billion, of which EVN has donated VND400 billion to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.
