According to EVN's report, over the past time, most of the thermal power plants in the North have operated continuously at high capacity for a long time. However, some power plants encounter long-term incidents or often operate with reduced capacity for many reasons, such as equipment breakdowns, coal blockages, unsecured coal quality, old equipment leading to decreased operating characteristics, etc.

Sharing information at the conference, representatives of investors of thermal power plants in the North highly appreciated EVN’s organizing the conference to understand the difficulties in the current power supply.
At the same time, the power plant investors also affirmed that the units are devoting all resources to ensure the stable operation of coal power plants and consider this as one of the critical tasks in 2023.
With the units encountering problems or reducing capacity, the units also focus on repairing and speeding up the recovery progress. Investors commit to making atmost efforts to put power units with long-term problems back into operation as soon as possible.
Also, at the conference, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan said that the power supply to the North is facing many difficulties and challenges. It was required to reduce power capacity to ensure the safety and security of the national electricity system many times. The Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade leaders paid particular attention to and gave very close and timely instructions.

Appreciating the efforts made by thermal power plants in the Northern region in the past time, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan wished power generating units inside and outside EVN to best prepare for the availability and feasibility of units, proactively arrange sufficient fuel sources to meet the high mobilization requirements of the power system to prepare the power source best to serve the needs of the economy, society, and people's life in the last six months of 2023 and the following years.
Electricity is an input resource for the economy. EVN calls for cooperation from power plants to contribute to ensuring the highest power supply and the best power quality for the North and the country as a whole.
EVN suggested investors of thermal power plants in the North increase the frequency of inspection, monitoring, and operation of on-site equipment to detect and handle abnormalities early, if any, to avoid incidents; prepare plans, human resources, materials, and equipment at the plant to handle any incidents promptly, to restore the unit's operation at the soonest; proactively work with coal suppliers to ensure timely and sufficient fuel supply for power production, and so on.
Currently, the total power capacity of EVN and 3 Power Generation Corporations 1, 2, and 3 accounts for about 38.4% of the total power capacity of the whole system; the rest belongs to the other investors such as BOT investors, independent power plants, renewable energy plants participating in the power system. Therefore, besides the efforts of EVN and its member units, power source investors outside EVN play a very important role in ensuring power supply for the nation.
