At the meeting, Vice President Ngo Son Hai provided an overview of EVN’s operations. He emphasized that EVN welcomes international partners, particularly experienced corporations in the renewable energy sector, to collaborate, share expertise, transfer technology, and jointly pursue sustainable development and environmental protection.
Marubeni highly values its effective and close cooperation with EVN over the years. Mr. Kazuaki Shibuya expressed his strong desire to expand the partnership in the near future.
Both sides agreed to enhance communication and coordination to leverage each party’s strengths, accelerate Vietnam’s energy transition, and contribute to emission reduction commitments, both in EVN’s power plants and across the country.
Marubeni is currently investing in and operating several large-scale power projects in Vietnam, including: the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,200MW), the O Mon 2 gas-fired power project using domestic gas (1,050MW), and the Quang Ninh LNG project using imported LNG (1,500MW). The company is also researching a carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative at the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, in combination with biomass and ammonia co-firing technologies, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in electricity production.
