EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai meets with EDP Renewables leadership

On the morning of 25 August in Hanoi, Ngo Son Hai, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), held a meeting with Mr. Andre Fernades, Chief Executive Officer for the Asia-Pacific region of EDP Renewables (EDPR).

During the meeting, Mr. Andre Fernades said that EDPR is currently focused on investing in renewable energy projects, with a total installed capacity of 22GW worldwide. In Vietnam, EDPR currently owns and operates 458MWp of solar power capacity across three projects in Khanh Hoa Province.

EDPR expressed its interest in cooperating with EVN on renewable energy development projects. The company also stands ready to share its experience and engage in in-depth technical exchanges in its areas of expertise, particularly solar power and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

For his part, EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai highly appreciated EDPR's experience in the renewable energy sector. He also provided an overview of EVN's operations and development orientations, including the development of renewable energy and BESS.

During the meeting, EVN also provided further information and clarification on several issues of interest to EDPR, including the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism and the investor selection process for projects involving land use under Decree No. 115/2024/ND-CP.

The two sides agreed to maintain regular communication and continue exploring specific cooperation opportunities in the coming period.
