The two projects are developed by EVNNPT and managed and operated by Power Transmission Company No. 4. At the Tra Vinh 220kV Substation (Ba Se A Hamlet, Song Loc Commune, Vinh Long Province), the existing 220/110/22kV, 125MVA AT2 transformer will be replaced with a new 250MVA transformer, reinforcing the substation's total installed transformer capacity from 375MVA to 500MVA.

In addition to replacing the transformer, the project includes installing a new protection relay system and upgrading the control and monitoring systems to enhance protection coordination and ensure safe and reliable operation.

Scheduled for completion in November 2026, the project will help meet the N-1 reliability criterion and increase the power supply capacity of 220kV substations in Vinh Long Province and surrounding areas.

At the Mo Cay 220kV Substation (Mo Cay Commune, Vinh Long Province), a second 250MVA transformer will be installed, along with additional 220kV and 110kV bays and an integrated control and protection system. Upon completion, the total installed transformer capacity of the Mo Cay 220kV Substation will increase from 125MVA to 375MVA. The work is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2026, thereby increasing the power supply capacity for 110kV substations in the area, supporting the power supply to the Vinh Long 220kV Substation, meeting the N-1 criterion, and improving power supply reliability.
