EVNCPC: Every year, up to 30 - 35% of average power outage time for customers reduced

Mr. Nguyen Thanh - Deputy General Director of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) said that in order to reach the target of SAIDI (system average interruption duration index/year) at only 400 minutes by 2020, EVNCPC should prepare solutions to reduce on-implementing SAIDI by 30-35% per year.

The review meeting for implementation of the first 7 months in 2018 and solutions to improving the power supply reliability of EVNCPC took place in Da Nang on 9 August 2018.

In the first 7 months of 2018, the power grid under the management and operation by EVNCPC was safely and reliably operated supplying power in a stable manner to properly serve the socio-economic development and people’s life in the area of Central and Central Highlands, particularly to ensure power supply for major events in the areas.

Total commercial power output of the Corporation was nearly reached 10 million kWh, increasing by 8.44% over the same period of 2017. The target of SAIDI implemented of EVNCPC was 578.1 minutes, equal to 64.4% over the plan for 2018 (898 minutes).

In order to improve the reliability of power supply, the Central Power Corporation has drastically and synchronously deployed a number of solutions. By August 2018, 13/13 Power companies have applied hotline power repair technology, completed 2 years ahead the plan assigned by EVN. In the first 7 months of 2018, the total number of hotline power repairs on the grid was 2,684 times.

Particularly, units such as PC Da Nang, thanks to the application of hotline technology, in the first 7 months of 2018, constantly supplied power at while working on the grid, hence power used by customers was not cut off, and loss of commercial power output was avoided, with the conversion of profit amount at VND 30 billion.

Over the past years, EVNCPC has equipped distribution power grid SCADA systems for 13 Power Companies and has put 110kV Remote control center of the power grid into operation at 13/13 companies.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh - Deputy General Director of EVNCPC requested the units to provide absolutely-accurate data from which the Corporation can work out an solution in line with reality, effectively improving the power supply reliability. Currently, EVNCPC has deployed a system of monitoring data on power incidents in the whole Corporation through 4 main channels: SCADA system in 13 provinces and cities; MDMS program - remote measuring system to monitor the location of unstable voltage; the worksheet managing software for the units and the channel of Customer Care center.

So far, incidents of low voltage and power grid are directly acknowledged by the Corporation every day, week and month; thereby, the prompt direction to handle incidents to the units is made. Deputy General Director of EVNCPC also requested the units to properly manage the working schedule on the grid, while develop plans in advance to quickly re-supply power to customers after each incident.

Facing many challenges of unfinished power grid infrastructure and management conditions for the grid throughout 13 Central and Central Highland provinces, EVNCPC’s  staffs and employees should concentrate more on their resources, strive to achieve the set targets of power supply reliability. The units should continue to promote the application of such high-efficiency technologies such as hotline performance. Currently, EVNCPC has continued to deploy investment in training the second hotline team in Power Companies of Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai and Dak Lak. In 2019, the Corporation will immediately establish the third hotline team in several units.

President and CEO of EVNCPC Tran Dinh Nhan said that the Corporation will pay attention to management measures, strengthen close control of the actual situation at the units to classify the Companies in groups, assign appropriate targets of improving the power supply reliability in the coming time.
