EVNGENCO 1’s thermal power plants in the North: Highly focused on production, ensuring power supply

Faced with severe weather conditions and high power demand in the hot season of 2023, Uong Bi and Quang Ninh thermal power plants have to operate at total capacity to ensure power supply and, at the same time, implement many solutions to ensure the unit’s stable operation, ready to meet the mobilization of the National Load Dispatch Center.

Efforts to supply power for peak heat

According to Mr. Do Trung Kien, Director of Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, manages and operates Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant (TPP): In the first five months of 2023, the plant produced 1.806 billion kWh, equal to 104% over the same period in 2022. By the end of June 21, 2023, the total power output generated by the Company in 2023 is 2.095 billion kWh, equal to 53.03% of the 2023 plan. Currently, both units of Uong Bi TPP are operating stably and generating as required by the National Load Dispatch Center.

With many efforts, the total estimated power production in the first six months of 2023 of Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company is 4.136 billion kWh,  equal to 55.01 of the plan in 2023 and surpassing 3.2% of the plan for the first six months of the year, in which in May 2023, the Company produced the highest output level (806.5 million kWh) since put into operation until now. This is the company’s effort to supply power for peak heat and serve people’s daily life.

To ensure power supply during the last month of the dry season as well as the following months in 2023, Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company and Uong Bi Thermal Power Company have actively planned and closely monitored the situation to prepare fuel source proactively, checked the fuel-supply equipment of the units ready to meet all operating modes according to the needs of the power system. This is a critical task in Vietnam’s current power shortage.
