From digitizing information, data, etc.
Currently at EVNGENCO 2, information technology has been applied to all the activities of management, operation and production, etc., from the corporation to its affiliated units. The softwares shared by EVN such as Enterprise Resource Management Software (ERP); Technical management (PMIS); construction investment management (IMIS) and so on have been put into operation effectively. All information and data are digitized, centralized and arranged in a scientific way, making it easy to find and access the data; at the same time, making a great contribution to reducing paperwork, thereby improving labour productivity and reducing costs.
The reporting of operating parameters of power plants under EVNGENCO 2 implemented on PMIS software
Mr. Pham Van Hoan - Deputy Head of EVNGENCO 2’s Production and Engineering Board shared that, the application of these softwares has reduced a huge workload for workers and leaders at levels. Typically, in the past, parameters on operation, capacity, production, etc. activities of plants were sent via e-mails by each unit to the Specialized Technical Department, then the Department’s specialists summarized and reported them to the Corporation’ leaders. Since the application of PMIS software, the Corporation’s leaders and specialized departments can directly view all the parameters of their units on PMIS, then the system will automatically synthesize the parameters as required. Thereby, it can reduce intermediaries, making a great contribution to increasing labour productivity, reducing costs and improving the quality of technical management.
Previously, with IMIS software, all data and records related to construction investment projects were stored and decentralized by each unit separately; requiring long time to search and refer to information and causing difficulties to the management, etc. Currently, all records and data are entered on IMIS, making it quick and effective to be accessed, supporting the Corporation's leaders to manage their projects specifically, conveniently and easily. Reports are searched and tracked quickly and accurately, and they also can be visualized (images, videos) at anywhere and anytime.
... to the application of artificial intelligence
One of the bright spots in EVNGENCO 2's application of science and technology is the effective implementation of the project "Applying AI technology and developing a software to forecast water flow to hydropower reservoirs". Currently, this technology is being applied at Thac Mo Hydropower Plant.

To implement the project, EVNGENCO 2 has collaborated with experts of Binh Phuoc Meteorological and hydrological Station to investigate, collect data and develop a digitalized maps of the basin and basin components of Thac Mo reservoir; designing a flow forecast model to practise short-term and long-term forecasts; analyzing designs and developing functional blocks of the flood forecasting and controlling software system.
Deploying the software since May 2018, up to now, the Corporation has not only completed all the functions but also further applied AI tools and algorithms to update the amount of water flowing to reservoirs.
The effective implementation of this technology helps EVNGENCO 2 to forecast water flow to Thac Mo hydropower reservoir; thereby, providing great support for regulating the reservoir and offering reasonable prices to the power market, improving their production and business efficiency. In addition, the proper forecast of water flow to the reservoirs also make contribution to improving the management and operation of the reservoir, not only preventing wasting water resources but also ensuring safety for the downstream areas, particularly in flood seasons.
After the effective implementation at Thac Mo Hydropower Plant, from 2020-2023, EVNGENCO 2 is continuing to duplicate this technology to its plants.
Currently, EVNGENCO 2 is continuing to research and deploy Projects to effectively apply the achievements of Industrial Revolution 4.0 into its production and business activities such as Researching and Developing a boiler monitoring system to support decisions of optimal operation and maintenance plan; Smart control of power plants, centralized operation management center (Smart OCC), etc.
