EVNNPC needs to promote the application of science and technology in power business activities and grid operation

That was one of the directions by Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of the Member Board of Vietnam Electricity at the meeting with the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) on 25 September 2019 on the implementation of the production, business, construction, investment and finance plan in 2019, and the development of a plan for 2020.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh assessed that, in the first 8 months of 2019, EVNNPC has overcome all difficulties and supplied sufficient electricity to serve socio-economic development and daily life of people in 27 provinces and cities in the North.

EVNNPC has basically fulfilled the targets assigned by the Group. In particular, the Corporation has well performed construction and investment activities, meeting electricity needs of provinces in a timely manner. In other areas such as corporate culture, customer service, labor productivity, etc., significant progresses have been made.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors listened to the report delivered by the EVNNPC's leader on the implementation of targets and tasks in 2019, the plan for 2020

The Group's leader highly appreciated EVNNPC’s performance of the Demand Response Program (DR). The Corporation has cooperated with local authorities to organize workshops on "Economical and efficient use of electricity, responsibilities and interests of businesses". Thereby, People's Committees of provinces and businesses there have been called for participation in the program.

Up to now, EVNNPC has worked with 3,174 customers and signed agreements with 2,014 customers, with the potential adjustment of estimated 899.7MW, exceeding the target set by the Group.

In appreciation of the results EVNNPC has achieved, however, the Chairman of EVN Member Board also pointed out shortcomings that the Corporation needs to deal with in the coming time such as: The rate of incidents on the high voltage power grid is high; the application of science and technology is low; the quality of electricity supply in rural areas needs to be improved, etc.

Therefore, the Chairman requested EVNNPC to speed up the construction progress of control centers and unmanned substations; promote the application of live line working technology, etc.

At the same time, EVNNPC needs to improve the rate of customers making non-cash payments for electricity bills; separate retailing and public utility costs; work with local authorities to review local loads, balance the supply - demand of electricity in 2020, etc.

According to the report of EVNNPC, in the first 8 months of 2019, the power sales of the Corporation has reached 46.7 billion kWh, an increase of 10.5% over the same period in 2018; 14 customer service indices have met the targets, of which the getting electricity index is 5.61/7 days, 1.39 days lower than the target assigned by the Group.

Also in the first 8 months of 2019, the Corporation has started construction of 57 projects of 110kV, reaching 72.6% of the plan of the year; energizing 51 projects, or 63% of the plan - this is one of the highlights of EVNNPC in 2019. In particular, some key projects have faced many difficulties and obstacles during the implementation process such as: 110kV transmission line supplying electricity to Hai Duong BOT plant; Nghi Son – Luyen Kim 110kV transmission line; Nghia Lo - Ba Khe - Cam Khe 110kV transmission line, etc.

As of 20 September 2019, 20.04% of EVNNPC’s customers have made non-cash payments for electricity bills. The Corporation has made great efforts to increase this rate to 40% by the end of 2019, fulfilling the Group's target.

Ms. Do Nguyet Anh - General Director of EVNNPC said that although there are still many difficulties, however, EVNNPC commits to taking synchronous and drastic solutions to complete its targets and tasks in 2019, thereby completing the five-year production, business, investment and development plan (2016 - 2020) assigned by the Group.
