Control center of Thai Nguyen Power Company
At the end of 2018, EVNNPC had put into operation 9 remote control centers with a total of 75 110kV substations.
EVNNPC has set a goal that until 2022, 100% of 110kV substations in 27 provinces and cities in the North will be controlled remotely and operate as unmanned substations
Ms. Do Nguyet Anh – EVNNPC’s Standing Deputy General Director said that due to certain special characteristics of the grid, the automation deployment of EVNNPC is still slow. Most substations have been in operation for a long time, many of primary and secondary equipment are obsolete and not supporting remote control protocols. Therefore, in order to meet the requirements of remote data acquisition, control and monitoring, a large number of primary and secondary equipment must be renovated or replaced, requiring a sizable investment.
Not to mention that the power interruption to renovate substation equipment face a lot of difficulties due to requirements of stable power supply and high power supply reliability indicator performance of power companies.
In the coming time, EVNNPC will allocate their financial resources for renovating or replacing primary and secondary equipment at substations, in order to meet remote control and unmanned operation requirements. As for new substations, such investments will be done right from the beginning.
