Bringing power to remote areas, islands, etc.
One of the most impressive milestones of EVNSPC is its successful performance and implementation of rural electrification program, bringing power to remote, border and island areas, contributing to promoting socio-economic development; improving the people’s material and spiritual life.
In the mid-90s of the 20th century, EVNSPC implemented a rural electrification program with a series of projects and works to bring power to off-grid communes, hamlets and villages in 21 southern provinces and cities. As a result, the number of households supplied with power has been increased, from 99.12% of communes and 69.64 of households (in 2001) to 100% of communes and 99.69% of households. Of which, 99.55% of rural households had power supplied by the end of 2019. EVNSPC expects that by the end of 2020, power supply will be provided to most of rural households in the area.
In addition to the implementation of new power supply projects, EVNSPC has performed many projects to improve power grids, making a considerable contribution to enhancing power quality, reducing losses and ensuring safe power supply in rural areas. EVNSPC has completely received the low-voltage power works in 876 communes, directly selling power to 1.2 million rural households, ensuring power purchase at the price set by the State and they are provided with full services of the Power sector. EVNSPC has completed supplying power to 113 communes following Criterion No.4 on building new rural areas in 21 southern provinces and cities.
EVNSPC has mobilized all resources to invest in supplying power from the national grid and developing local power sources, ensuring power supply for island districts/communes such as Phu Quoc, Kien Hai, Lai Son (Kien Giang) and Con Dao. (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Phu Quy (Binh Thuan), Truong Sa (Khanh Hoa), etc., contributing to developing marine economy, ensuring national defense and security as well as defend the nation’s sacred sovereignty over seas and islands.

Breakthrough in innovation
Together with Vietnam Electricity, since 2013, EVNSPC has been determined to innovate its business activities and customer services, starting by reducing administrative procedures, synchronously implementing the one-stop-shop mechanism, facilitating customers to access to power services. At the end of 2015, EVNSPC launched a Customer Care Center with the 24/24h operation, always available to answer all questions from power customers. EVNSPC uses field application software to control the exploitation to meet the requirements of level-4 power service provision; ensuring 100% of its power companies install the software and 100% of its sales executives and on-site power repairers use the customer relationship management program (CRM mobile).
In order to optimize utilities, facilitate customers and improve labour productivity, EVNSPC cooperates with banks and intermediary organizations to perform the power bill collection service. EVNSPC also connects and provides power services on the Online Public Service Portal or the Public Administration Center in the provinces/cities. Besides, EVNSPC continues modernizing and professionalizing its business activities and customer services in the coming period and set a target towards 2025, its customer services will be provided at the same quality as that of ASEAN 3 countries; specifically SAIDI <150 minutes/year, SAIFI <3 times/year (including planned power outages); access-to-electricity index level reaching that of ASEAN 3 countries (time for solving procedures of power units), etc.
“Regarding rural electrification, Vietnam's access-to-electricity rate has been increased from 14% in 1993 to over 99% in 2018. Within 25 years only, more than 14 million households or 60 million Vietnamese people has been supplied power from the national grid. This is truly an incredible achievement.
Vietnam has become a story of success across the world for developing energy sector over the past few decades. Two aspects that need to be emphasized in this story are rural electrification and sector reform”.
