EVN has officially launched reduction in electricity price for customers affected by COVID-19

Immediately after receiving Document No. 2698/BCT-DTDL dated 16 April 2020 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) officially implemented the reduction in electricity price, electricity cost for customers affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, more than 2 million manufacturing and trading customers will receive a 10% discount on electricity retail prices; 100% of customers using power (equivalent to 26.6 million households) receive a 10% discount on electricity prices of the first four levels. In particular, there are about 22.8 million households using less than 300 kWh/month (accounting for 85.7%) will be reduced by 10% of electricity cost.

In addition, tourist accommodation establishments are reduced at a level from the retail electricity price applicable to business activities to the retail price applicable to manufacturing industries after the price reduction.

For the wholesale price of electricity in rural areas, dormitories, residential complexes, trade-service-life complexes, a 10% reduction from the first to fourth levels of living expenses; 10% reduction for other purposes. At the same time, the electricity wholesale prices for industrial parks and markets are reduced by 10%.

More than 2 million manufacturing and trading customers will receive a 10% reduction in electricity retail prices

In particular, EVN reduces the electricity cost (pre-tax value) directly to facilities serving prevention and control over COVID-19 pandemic buying power from the Group's units; specifically, reduce 100% of electricity cost for facilities (not hotels) used for isolation, medical examination and treatment of COVID-19; 20% of electricity cost for health facilities used for examination, testing and treatment of COVID-19; 20% of electricity cost for hotels used to isolate COVID-19 patients.

The time for implementing electricity price reduction and electricity cost reduction is 3 months, with a total estimated support amount of around VND 11,000 billion.

The discount of electricity price for living activities will be implemented in electricity bill periods of May, June and July 2020. For customers using electricity outside living activities (production, business and administration, etc.) implemented from the latest bill period from 16 April 2020.

Particularly for tourist accommodation establishments, the units of EVN will notify customers about the transfer pricing policy via the media and electronic means; at the same time, it is required that eligible customers shall provide documents identifying "tourist accommodation establishments" as prescribed. EVN's units organize the reception of the requests through the following channels: National Public Service Portal; Customer-Care website/App CSKH/Email/Zalo; Customer-Care Center; Customer Transaction Office, etc., to carry out price conversion procedures for customers, with time duration within 03 days from the date of receiving the dossier.

EVN commits to ensure full benefits for customers in electricity cost support within 3 months (from the latest billing period from 16 April 2020) in accordance with the guidance of MOIT.

After the time of electricity price reduction and electricity cost reduction, the application of electricity sale prices shall comply with Decision No. 648/QD-BCT.

To ensure openness and transparency, EVN requires its member units to publicly list Document No. 2698/BCT-DTDL, Circular No. 16/2014/TT-BCT, Circular No. 25/2018/TT-BCT, documents guiding on the selling price of the MOIT and the Group at all transaction offices, Customer-care website, websites of the units in accordance with the Electricity Law.

Currently, EVN is also urgently upgrading the online billing tool in the section "EVN & Customers" on the website of EVN (www.evn.com.vn), designed with the function of calculating changes in electricity price with the supported level as prescribed.

EVN calculates publicly and transparently the reduced and supported electricity costs on the electronic invoice mode and notify the like to customers.
