Completely energizing 220kV branch belongs Luu Xa 220kV substation work (Thai Nguyen province)

On 22 April 2020, Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) coordinated with relevant units to accept and energize to put into operation a 220kV branch belonging to Luu Xa 220kV substation work (Thai Nguyen province).

220kV double-circuit line from Luu Xa 220kV substation connecting with Thai Nguyen – Phu Binh 220kV line

The work is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporations (EVNNPT), the CPMB manages the project and the Power Transmission  Company No. 1 manages the operation.

Luu Xa 220kV substation work is located in Hoa Bac Village, Thinh Duc Commune, Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen Province.

The work includes 2 stages: Stage 1, newly constructing 220kV substation and installing a 220kV-250MVA transformer, successfully energized and put into operation by the CPMB and relevant units on 31 December 2018. Stage 2 with the scale of newly constructing 220kV double-circuit line from Luu Xa 220kV substation connecting to Thai Nguyen – Phu Binh 220kV line at about the pole no. 87-88 with the total length of about 1.1km.

Although the length of line is short, site clearance and compensation face many difficulties. With the efforts of relevant units, especially Thai Nguyen People’s Committee and EVNNPT together with the construction unit and relevant units, the CPMB has successfully energized to meet the project schedule.

Energizing and putting into operation the 220kV branch under Luu Xa 220kV substation work meet the load growth demand of Thai Nguyen province in particular and the Northern power system in general. Receiving power source from hydroelectric plants in the Northwest region and supporting the existing 220kV substation of the region has created a circuit link between areas in the power system and increase safety operation and stability for the national power system.
