EVN’s Chairman of Board of Directors Dang Hoang An works with leadership of ChuBu Electric Power Company and Marubeni Group

On December 8, 2023, in Hanoi, EVN’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Dang Hoang An welcomed and worked with ChuBu Electric Power Company and Marubeni Group (Japan) to discuss cooperation subjects in the energy area.

Talking with the leader of EVN, Mr. Hayashi Kingo - General Director of ChuBu Electric Power stated that currently, the company wishes to promote cooperation with international partners in renewable energy development, aiming at carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas emission reduction. In particular, ChuBu Electric Power is especially interested in such areas as offshore wind power, pumped storage hydropower, and solar power.

Mr. Hayashi Kingo commented that Vietnam is one of the countries with the most potential for renewable energy development in the world. Therefore, ChuBu Electric Power expects to enjoy support and cooperation from EVN and expand the exchange of experience between the two parties in the energy transition process as well as green energy development.

On EVN's side, Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors Dang Hoang An respectfully thanked ChuBu Electric Power's interest and cooperation invitation. Vietnam has set the energy transition and carbon neutrality goal by 2050. To contribute to the realization of this goal, EVN will promote renewable energy development, especially offshore wind power. Therefore, the Group welcomes partners’ interests and investments in this area.

Marubeni Group working at EVN

On the same afternoon, working with the EVN leader, Mr. Satoru Harada - Managing Director and General Director of Global Power Division, Marubeni Group, updated the status of projects that Marubeni has been involved in the Vietnamese market, such as Nghi Son II, O Mon II Thermal Power Plant projects, Quang Ninh LNG project, etc.

After EVN and Marubeni signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in November 2022, the two sides established working groups to discuss and agree on action plans to implement specific cooperation activities. Marubeni proposed several activities to be implemented within the MOU framework.

At the meeting, leaders of both sides discussed and shared EVN's difficulties and challenges in the current context as well as cooperation priorities in the coming time.
