At the meeting, Mr. - Philippe Metzger, Secretary General of the International Electrotechnical Commission, introduced the main business areas of the Commission.
IEC is the world's leading organization responsible for developing and publishing international standards for all electrical, electronic, and relevant technologies, collectively known as “electrotechnical”.

Mr. Philippe Metzger stated that the IEC hoped that Vietnam would soon become an official member of the International Electrotechnical Commission and thus join many IEC's activities in the near future. Thereby, EVN can improve its standardization capacity and apply it effectively in production, business, construction, and investment activities.

The leader of EVN hoped that in the coming time, IEC and the Directorate for Standards, Metrology, and Quality would support training for human resources of EVN and its member units on a number of IEC standards; EVN will be entitled to participate in conferences, seminars, and other activities organized by IEC. At the same time, EVN wishes that IEC will share experiences to assist EVN in improving efficiency in production, business, construction, and investment activities.
At the meeting, the two parties also discussed in detail other issues such as IEC's activities on electricity and electronics standardization; EVN's activities related to the IEC standard systems, etc.
