Energizing Pho Cao 220kV Substation and its connection: Strengthening power supply security for Hung Yen and Hai Duong

At 6:30 a.m. on March 26, 2024, the Northern Power Project Management Board - NPMB (under the National Power Transmission Corporation) in coordination with relevant units successfully organized the energization of AT1 and AT2 transformers at Pho Cao 220kV substation project and its connection lines.

Pho Cao 220kV substation project and its connection lines are built in Vu Duong village, Hong Quang commune, An Thi district, Hung Yen province. The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and operated by NPMB on behalf of the investor, and received and operated by Power Transmission Company 1.

The project scales of the new construct 220/110/22kV substation with an installed capacity of 2x250MVA. This phase completely installed two 250MVA transformers. Construction of 93m of 220kV connection line, 04 circuits with about, connecting Pho Cao 220kV substation to the existing Thai Binh - Kim Dong 220kV line. Construction of a 35kV line, 01 circuit with about 264m long to supply self-consuming power to the substation.

According to the plan, the project is expected to be completed in May 2024, however, to support power supply for loads during power outages on sections of Pho Cao - Thanh Mien - Hai Duong 110kV power line and Nghia An - Pho Cao 110kV power line to construct intersection locations of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project, section of Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant – Pho Noi, Vietnam Electricity and National Power Transmission Corporation require the project to be completed in March 2024.

Once completed, the project helps ensure a stable, long-term, and reliable power supply for socio-economic development in Hung Yen, Hai Duong, and surrounding areas, while preventing the overload of Kim Dong 220kV substation.
