Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan – EVN’s President and CEO chaired the Conference
High growth of electricity demand
In the first half of 2019, EVN faced many difficulties in power supply. The power system has virtually no capacity reserve in the context that electricity demand was growing dramatically, weather conditions were severe with a lot of widespread heat waves, the coal supply for power generation was difficult, and water inflows in hydropower reservoirs were very poor, etc.
Specifically, the peak capacity of the whole system reached nearly 38,220MW, an increase of over 4,000MW (equivalent to 11.9% growth rate) compared to the same period in 2018 (34,152MW). In particular, in order to meet the electricity demand of the South, in the first 6 months, EVN had to dispatch 732 million kWh of oil fired thermal power generation.
Overcoming all these challenges, in the first half of 2019, EVN and its member units ensured safe and stable power supply, sufficiently meeting the electricity demand for socio-economic development and people's life.
This times also involved the utmost efforts of EVN's member units in coordinating with solar power project owners to put into operation 4,397MW of solar power. Thereby, the total capacity of renewable energy sources in the whole system increased to 5,038MW, accounting for 9.5% of the total installed capacity of the system (53,326MW).
By the end of June 2019, 8,232 customers across the country had installed rooftop solar power PV systems with a total capacity of 173,126kWp.
Constantly improving customer service
Absorbing opinions of the community in the recent tariff adjustment in March 2019, EVN designed 4 new electricity bill forms on the principle of simple, transparent, easy to understand, and organized a voting contest, calling for opinions of electricity customers through evn.com.vn website from June 12, to July 11, 2019.
As of July 2019, customers all over the country have implemented 17,560 online transactions of level 4. According to statistics through customer care websites of 5 Power Corporations, customers conducted transactions and paid for services online with a total amount of VND 20.84 billion.
EVN’s member units have collaborated with 29 provinces/cities nationwide to issue a "one - stop" mechanism between state management agencies and the power industry.
Direction to realize targets and plans in the last 6 months of 2019 was one of the key issues at the Conference.
In addition to the above results, in corporate governance, EVN has kept on promoting the application of science and technology to production, business and governance activities. Particularly the E-Office system with the focus on E-Office software continues to be upgraded and deployed in level 3 and level 4 units, which facilitates their management, direction and operation at all times and in all places. A number of member corporations and units have the rate of issuing electronic documents and making work files in the electronic environment reaching over 80%, thereby contributing to shortening the time of directing and managing, reducing costs of stationery and document delivery.
Some outstanding results in the first 6 months of 2019:
- Electricity generation output: estimated at 117.38 billion kWh, up 10.6% over the same period in 2018;
- Power sales: estimated at 100.9 billion kWh, an increase of 10.01% over the same period;
- Power loss: estimated at 6.59%, a decrease of 0.17% over the same period;
- Commenced 72 projects and completed 57 110 – 500kV power grid projects;
- Nearly 3.5 million customer requests for electricity services have been received and resolved;
- 7.63 million customers (accounting for 28.6% of total customers) made non-cash payments for electricity bills;
- 4.02 days is the average time to supply electricity through medium voltage grids to 5,522 customers.
