Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities Meeting

From March 29 – 31, 2016 , Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities (HAPUA) Meeting was organized in Da Nang. There were 150 official participants representing ASEAN countries; members of HAPUA working groups from 8 nations, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Mr. Ngo Son Hai – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Mr. Nguyen Thanh – Deputy General Director of EVNCPC attended the Meeting.

The Meeting focused on major subjects such as “Power generation and renewable energy”; “Variable Renewable Energies (vRE) Grid Iintegration”; “Guidelines on Distributed Energy Resources (DER)”; “Managing Power Reliability and Quality on Distribution Network”.

ASEAN countries committed to close energy cooperation

HAPUA Meeting is organized annually and its location rotates among ASEAN countries. The Meeting aims to promote friendly cooperation in power sector of ASEAN region as well as to coordinate in introducing positive and effective solutions for common challenges of ASEAN power grids.

Besides, HAPUA forum creates opportunities for EVN to enhance their information exchange, understanding of power sector of other nations in the region; at the same time proposing and implementing cooperation projects on technique, information technology, finance, management, environment, renewable energy, nuclear power, etc.

EVN successfully hosted the 17th HAPUA Meeting in Hanoi in 2001, held the position of HAPUA Chairman during 2011 – 2012 with a lot of positive initiatives highly appreciated by other member countries.

HAPUA Council is scheduled to take place in Laos in May.
