End of year 2016, Distribution Efficiency Project Shall Be Basically Completed

At the wrap-up meeting of the WB Implementation Support Mission for the Distribution Efficiency Project (DEP) on 29 March, EVN Vice President Nguyen Tan Loc directed the Power Corporations to actively implement and basically complete the project before December 31, 2016.

The Distribution Efficiency Project (DEP) was financed by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank (WB), the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the International Development Agency of the Australian Government (AusAid) with a total investment of about USD 665 million. The implementing agencies of the project include five Power Corporations under EVN and the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV).

DEP consists of 3 components: Component 1-Expansion and strengthening of the distribution system; Component 2: Modernization of the distribution system and Component 3: Technical assistance and Capacity building.

Mr. Van Tien Hung - DEP project manager said, within 3 years of implementation from the effectiveness of the credit agreement in Feb 2013, the implementing agencies have energized 75% of the original subprojects with performance volume of 85%.   Meanwhile, as required by the plan, the project shall be completed by 31 Dec 2018. The DEP therefore has a very good progress implemented by the Power Corporations. EVN Vice President Nguyen Tan Loc stressed that the Distribution Efficiency Project 2 (DEP2) will be deployed in the coming time. The DEP 2 is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the distribution system and prepare for the operation of the power market through application of information technology. Therefore, the power corporations need to well prepare, closely coordinate with the relating stakeholders and ensure the project to be implemented as per the schedule.
