In addition, there are representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, General Directorate of Energy, Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam and the Institute of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
For the Vietnam Electricity, Mr. Nguyen Cuong Lam, Vice President and representatives of the functional departments of EVN and subsidiaries of EVN attended the seminar.
The workshop is part of the cooperation program for capital arrangements for Bac Ai pumped storage power plant project that is being implemented by JICA. In December 2015, JICA's consulting group organized the first survey for this project and is currently implementing the second survey.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr Nguyen Cuong Lam -EVN Vice President said that this is the new power generation development program for Vietnam. EVN is actively preparing to develop the project in accordance with the approved Master Plan on national power development. To date, EVN has completed the feasibility studies for 3 projects: Moc Chau, DonDuong and Ham Thuan Bac pumped storage power plant projects.
"As for the Bac Ai pumped storage power plant project, EVN approved the pre-feasibility study in May 2015 and are implementing steps to make investments including survey and design for auxiliary items as well as survey and design work for the tailrace. In addition, EVN is actively coordinating with the project appraising consultants appointed by JICA; at the same time in collaboration with JICA to finalize ODA loan processing for the project” said Mr. Nguyen Cuong Lam.
At the seminar, JICA experts presented an overview of pumped storage power plant; the situation of construction of pumped storage power plant in the world; advantages, adjusting mechanisms as well as technologies in the construction of the pumped storage power plant.
