Hot weather, power customers in Ho Chi Minh City should install the App to monitor daily power consumption

EVNHCMC CSKH is an App on smart mobile devices for customers of the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation  (EVNHCMC) to directly monitor the power consumption index. In particular, in such hot weather, customers should proactively control their power consumption to avoid high electricity bills.

Hot sun, warning electricity bills can go high

Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center (EVNHCMC), in the early days of March 2021, the hot weather caused the strong increase in power demand of households in the area. Particularly in the first 6 days of March, with the peak temperature of 36oC, the power consumption of the whole city reached 458.98 million kWh, an increase of 10-20% compared to that of the normal days in February. Therefore, this will result in a sudden increase in customers' electricity bills in March and the dry months of 2021.

If customers maintain the current rate of electricity use, along with prolonged hot weather, the electricity bill in March (released in early April) will increase accordingly, possibly causing a "shock" for customers.

Installing App to track daily power consumption

“EVNHCMC encourages customers to download the App “EVNHCMC CSKH” on the App Store (for the iOS operating system) and CH Play (for Android operating system) to smartphones to directly monitor and look up information. This application will help customers know clearly the daily power consumption so that there is a reasonable adjustment in use. In addition, the application will also warn if the power consumption increases. Meanwhile, to limit the sudden increase in electricity bills in March and the dry season, EVNHCMC recommends that customers and people should really pay attention to the practice of power saving according to the principle of 4 right factors: "Right time, right place, right way and right need" and "turn off power when not in use".

EVNHCMC also calls on customers who are businesses and offices to balance production schedules in the direction of reducing power use during peak hours, investing in energy-saving production equipment and coordinating with the Electricity sector in monitoring and controlling power quality.

Some solutions to use power economically and effectively in hot weather:

- Set the low difference in the room temperature and the outdoor one (about 5oC).

- Limit using more than one air conditioner at the same time.

- Use air conditioning with fan to cool the air in the room.

- Clean the air conditioner periodically to help it operate stably to increase cooling capacity and reduce power consumption.

- Do not use equipment that consumes a lot of power during peak hours.

- Actively use renewable energy sources to reduce electricity bills at high price levels.

- Make the most of natural sunlight and ventilation.
