EVN has successfully completed the water discharge from hydropower reservoirs and ensured electricity to pump water for agricultural production in the 2020 – 2021 winter-spring crop

According to the report of the General Department of Water Resources on reviewing the water supply for rice cultivation in the 2020 - 2021 Winter-Spring crop in the midlands and Northern delta region, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has undertaken the operation of its hydropower plants to the maximum possible extent in order to create favorable conditions for irrigation works to receive water, at the same time ensure power supply for operating pumping stations. Information on EVN's water discharge management has been regularly and daily disclosed to the General Department of Water Resources and relevant agencies for their collaboration.

In all three discharge times, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba hydropower reservoirs under Vietnam Electricity (EVN) have discharged a total of 5.14 billion m3, providing sufficient water for the 2020 - 2021 winter-spring crop cultivation in the Midlands and Northern Delta provinces. Compared with the original plan, the total amount of water discharge has decreased by about 0.5 - 0.7 billion m3. The total amount of discharged water this year has declined against the plan, however is still 2.46 billion m3 higher than that of 2020 (the year with heavy rain on the Lunar New Year Eve) and 0.72 billion m3 higher than that of 2019.

In the coming years, EVN will continue taking the initiative in calculating and determining the discharged water flow and total amount of discharged water of hydropower reservoirs in accordance with water intake requirements, at the same time-saving water resources and improving power generation efficiency.
