The delegation of EVNSPC inspected the power supply situation to serve the water pumping for anti-drought and irrigation purposes at Cong Cai Son pumping station, Ben Tre province.
In 2020, despite facing many difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has successfully accomplished its electricity supply task in a safe and stable manner to serve the socio-economic development and people's life in 21 provinces and cities in the South. In particular, in provinces in the Mekong Delta where severe salinity occurs such as Tien Giang and Ben Tre, EVNSPC has promptly invested in newly installing and increasing the capacity of dozens of substations in order to ensure power supply, serving agricultural water pumping stations in key areas. At the same time, EVNSPC has carried out activities to support people such as donating clean water filtration systems, water tanks, drinking water bottles, domestic water, etc.
EVNSPC has promptly prepared many plans to ensure power supply against drought and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta provinces in 2021.
Right from the beginning of 2021, EVNSPC has promptly requested its member Power Companies to coordinate with the local authorities in the construction and implementation of plans to ensure electricity supply for irrigation, combating drought and salinity; accordingly, EVNSPC shall make a list of additional loads to combat salinity, loads for irrigation, agriculture, and security purposes. EVNSPC has to develop plans to secure electricity supply for water pumping to serve irrigation and daily life. EVNSPC shall give priority to the electricity supply for the proper functioning of these loads. EVNSPC has to strengthen their inspection and management of power system operation to promptly detect and handle defects on the power system, and thereby minimize incidents. EVNSPC has to maintain its work shift regime to direct and manage the power supply of the Corporation and its member units. EVNSPC will arrange and make ready workforces to respond to and handle power grid failures; to provide adequate material and equipment and make it ready to promptly respond to emergency situations.
Member Power Companies are responsible for promptly notifying the Corporation so that the Corporation can grasp the situation and timely work out plans to direct and manage the power supply effectively, aiming to mitigate damages to the people in the salinized areas.
