Implementing solutions to ensure safe and stable operation of Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant

On October 3, in Hanoi, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity Ngo Son Hai had a working session with Nghi Son Thermal Power Company (NSTPC) on solutions to ensure the safe and stable operation of Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant (including 2 units, total installed capacity of 600MW), preparing for the 2024 dry season.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Vo Manh Ha, Director of NSTPC (the unit managing and operating Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant) said, the plant's electricity output in the first 9 months of 2023 is 2.788 billion kWh, reaching 72.46% of the yearly plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Unit S1 is operating stably according to the system mobilization, Unit S2 is undergoing an overhaul as planned from September 1, 2023. Economic and technical indicators such as availability coefficient; rate of self-consumption of electricity; and Heat consumption rate in the past 9 months have all met the assigned plan.

Facing the stressful power supply situation as forecast in the 2024 dry season, to improve the reliability of pressure system boiler No. 1 in particular and unit S1 in general, the company also recommends that Vietnam Electricity /Power Generation Corporation No. 1 allows supplementing unexpected repair schedules for Unit S1 at the end of 2023.

Also in the last months of 2023, Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant is expected to ensure enough coal fuel for operation and minimum coal inventory according to EVN regulations.
