EVNHCMC employees take the lead in saving power
Right from the beginning of the year, EVNHCMC has guided people and units to save power - Photo: VGP
Accordingly, the corporation requires all affiliated units to continue to strictly implement power saving at their headquarters with the goal of saving at least 5-10% of the annual electricity use plan for each unit.
At the office, some solutions have been applied: increasing the use of fans for cooling, setting the air conditioner temperature at 26 degrees Celsius, and turning on the air conditioner only from 8:30 to 15:30 (after starting and before finishing the working day by 60 minutes). Deactivating 50% of the elevators as well as encouraging moving by stairs between adjacent floors.
The others solutions have been also taken such as turning off or reducing 50% of the lighting capacity of the corridor, parking lots, campuses, and public areas; sticking to energy-saving communication slogans, and reminding employees to turn off power sources when not in use. Daily monitoring has been conducted on the electricity consumption index through telemetry systems of headquarters and offices of the unit to control consumption output, ensuring 10% savings in consumption in May, June, and July 2023.
At Ho Chi Minh City Power Information Technology Company (under EVNHCMC), propaganda has been disseminated in the unit about power saving and safe use of electricity to staff and employees through the bulletin board located in the company lobby and by sending mail. The unit also takes advantage of natural light and turns off unnecessary hallway lighting and toilets on floors.
The unit has also conducted replacing old technology lights with LED bulbs, and turning off electrical appliances when leaving the office. The holiday announcements incorporate propaganda on electricity saving and safe electricity use. Other solutions have been applied: quarterly cleaning, maintaining and repairing the air conditioning system, using the air supply system to be transmitted to the working rooms and fans, contributing to reducing the use of the air conditioning system; checking, turning off unnecessary equipment using electricity at the end of each working day, etc.
Close and regular coordination with units
Facing the complicated weather situation along with the El Nino phenomenon, extreme heat, and prolonged drought greatly affect the power supply of the whole country in general and of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, EVNHCMC has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (PCHCMC) on solutions to promote power saving and ensure safe and stable power supply in the locality in the dry season of 2023.
According to Mr. Bui Trung Kien, Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, up to now, all districts, Thu Duc City, and the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones have implemented the direction of PCHCMC to agencies, businesses, people in the locality to implement such solutions for safe and economical electricity use.
