On April 3, 2018, EVN’s Vice President Nguyen Cuong Lam welcomed and worked with a delegation from the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia led by Minister Frehiwot Woldehanna.

In realization of the motto of "electricity goes one step ahead", EVN has made efforts to supply electricity to meet the electricity demand growing at about 10% per year of the country, with better and better quality of service.

In particular, EVN has delivered electricity to 99.98% of communes / wards / towns across the country, 98.83% of rural households have access to electricity and EVN has supplied electricity directly to 11 out of 12 island districts.

This achievement is attributed to appropriate policies of the State, effective support from international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB, AFD and local resources being mobilized for implementing rural electrification projects in line with each development period of the country. In implementation of the assigned tasks, EVN has set social security objectives above corporate interests.

A delegation from the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia worked and exchanged experiences at EVN.

Mr Frehiwot Woldehanna – the Minister of Water, Irrigation and Electricity of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is very impressed by the achievements of EVN in ensuring electricity for socio - economic development in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Frehiwot Woldehanna, the percentage of population in Ethiopia having access to electricity is only about 25%. Therefore, the delegation is looking forward to learning from EVN's experiences in power supply, especially in implementing rural electrification programs reaching nearly 100% of households electrified in Vietnam today.
