NPTS is confident in mastering 500kV substations installing and testing technology

Now, NPTS staff and engineers are completely confident in mastering the installing and testing technology of 500kV- ultra-high voltage substations.

The timely completion of equipment dismantling, installing, and testing for 3 500kV substations of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project has affirmed the technical expertise of the staff and engineers of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), with the core force coming from the Power Transmission Service Company (NPTS).

Mobilizing total resources to participate in construction

Accordingly, implementing the direction and tasks assigned by EVNNPT, according to the plan at the Thanh Hoa 500kV Substation, the units under EVNNPT and NPTS have deployed the installation of 6 phases of 500kV-200MVA transformers, installation of primary equipment on the 500kV side, testing and calibration of primary and secondary equipment at the substation, configuring the substation computer control system; installation of 2 500kV shunt reactors  - 60 MVAr and 65 MVAr and 2 sets of 2000A - 30.5Ohm series capacitors along with related equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, etc. These are the main and most important items in the Thanh Hoa 500kV Substation project.

Installing transformer transferred from O Mon 500kV substation to Thanh Hoa 500kV substation

Right at the time EVNNPT accepted and energized the 500kV substation, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Director of NPTS said: Participating in the construction of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line, NPTS performed the task of dismantling equipment and reactors at some 500kV substations in the Southern region, installing, testing, and calibrating for the Thanh Hoa 500kV substation, and installing primary equipment, testing, and calibrating at Quang Trach and Pho Noi 500kV substations.

From April 14, 2024, NPTS has dismantled the mobilized equipment for Thanh Hoa 500kV substation including Reactors, circuit breakers, voltage transformer (TU), current transformer, disconnectors, and accompanying equipment from 500kV substations in the Southern region and 2 series capacitors at Pleiku and Pleiku2 500kV substations.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung said that along with Thanh Hoa 500kV substation, at Quang Trach 500kV substation, NPTS installed 2 reactors and performed calibration testing. At Pho Noi 500kV substation, the unit installed 2 reactors and all accompanying primary equipment, calibration tested, and configured the computer control system.

Confident in mastering the installing and testing ultra-high voltage substations technology

NPTS technical staff and engineers install equipment at Thanh Hoa 500kV substation

For the configuration, installation, and calibration testing of the protection control system for the above series capacitors, NPTS has researched and connected the protection control system for series capacitors to the computer control system at Thanh Hoa 500kV substation (the system is also configured by NPTS) and installed and configured the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). For the calibration testing, NPTS has sufficient human resources, qualifications, and equipment to perform primary and secondary testing and simulate the protection functions of series capacitors.

To achieve the above results, the experience was drawn from the accumulation of over 7 years of establishment. For each project, the company mobilizes maximum resources to implement, thereby ensuring that the projects are put into operation as soon as possible, ensuring the fastest power supply to the system. As evidence, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung said, for example, the transformer incident of the Hoa Binh 500kV substation in mid-January 2024, with the assigned task, NPTS completed the installation and testing of the 3 phases of Hoa Binh 500kV transformer in just nearly 6 days. This is a record time because such work takes at least 12 days in other countries in the world.
