Nearly 13,000 rooftop solar photovoltaic projects register for selling power to EVN

So far 12,765 rooftop solar PV projects have been registered for selling power to Vietnam Electricity with a total power sales of 30.5 million kWh by the end of August 2019.

In particular, the total capacity of customers' rooftop solar PV projects is 216MWp.

Decision No. 11/QD-TTg on the incentive mechanism for solar power development has been repealed since 30 June 2019. So far, a new decision has not been issued yet to replace it. Currently, neither legal basis is in place for EVN to guide their customers, nor have procedures been realized to purchase power from rooftop solar PV projects of new customers.

Vietnam Electricity is currently awaiting instructions from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to sign power purchase agreements with investors of rooftop solar PV projects.

- It is expected that by the end of 2019, an additional 300MW of rooftop solar PV capacity will be installed.

- 2,000MW is the total rooftop solar PV capacity that can be realized by the end of 2020.
