Nearly 2,900 large electricity consumers in the South signed DR agreement

Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) said that as of May 28, the whole corporation had 2,875 customers who are industrial production facilities and large electricity consumption establishments in 21 Southern provinces and cities agreed to sign an agreement to participate in non-commercial demand response (DR), with a total agreed capacity of more than 588MW.

According to EVNSPC, in order to proactively implement power supply ensuring measurement and power supply solutions in the dry season and the whole year of 2023, the Corporation has required Power companies to focus on propagating the implementation of the non-commercial demand response (DR) program. In particular, directly working with local authorities and customers in proactively adjusting production plans, and shifting electricity usage time to off-peak and normal hours.

The Corporation also requires its affiliated units to drastically implement measures for economical and efficient electricity use at the unit, switch off unnecessary electrical equipment, limit the use of large electricity-consuming equipment, especially during peak times of the power system.

According to EVNSPC, from May 15 to 28, the total energy savings in 21 Southern provinces and cities reached over 25.6 million kWh. By the end of May 28, 17/21 Southern provinces and cities had issued documents to promote electricity saving in the province.
