Attending the ceremony were the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc, EVN’s President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3) Dinh Quoc Lam; along with staffs and employees through the periods, partners and shareholders of Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Director of Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company Trinh Van Doan said that Ninh Binh Power Plant was started on 15 March 1971 in Ninh Binh town, with a scale of 4 furnaces with a total capacity of 100MW.

On 19 May 1974, furnace No. 1 was put into operation, generating the first electricity to connect to the Northern power grid. Next, the last furnace was put into operation on 8 March 1976. Along with Thac Ba Hydropower Plant, Uong Bi Power Plant, Ninh Binh Power Plant was one of the three main power sources of the Northern power grid at that time, promptly serving the construction and economic development of the country.
After a long period of operation, from July 2005, the Plant transferred to an independent company operating mechanism with the name: Ninh Binh Thermal Power Company and then transferred to operating under the joint stock company model from 1 January 2008.
In recent years, the Company has promoted research and application of scientific and technological advances into production. A series of advanced equipment is installed to replace several outdated equipment systems, increasing safety, efficiency, and reliability in operation. Thanks to that, in the period 2008 - 2023, the average power output will reach 400 - 700 million kWh/year, a high increase compared to the average output in the period 1998 - 2012.

During 50 years of operation, Ninh Binh Thermal Power Plant persevered with the target of "All for electricity for the Fatherland"; the total power output of the Plant to date has reached approximately 24 billion kWh of electricity.
Along with production and business activities, the Company has contributed an average of over VND 30 billion/year to the budget, actively implemented social security work, and joined hands with localities to implement many programs for the community, towards sustainable development.

Regarding the future orientation, the Prime Minister has signed approval for the Ninh Binh province plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; including the project to develop a 300MW flexible gas power plant in Kim Son district, marking a transition and development in the field of clean energy. EVN has directed EVNGNECO3 and the Ninh Binh Thermal Power Company to develop a roadmap for developing a flexible gas power plant project to replace the existing power plant.

With its achievements, the Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company was honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and The State, notably the First Class Labor Medal (2003); and Second Class Independence Medal (2013).
