The cumulative output in the first 7 months of 2024 is estimated at 121.99 billion kWh, up 12.7% over the same period in 2023. The Group's total commercial electricity output in the first 7 months of the year reached 160.41 billion kWh, up 13.52% over the same period, of which the electricity growth of some typical components is as follows: power for daily life increased by 14.7%, for industry - construction increased by 12.4%, for trade - services increased by 15.3%, for agriculture increased by 13.9%, and so on.
Regarding business and customer service: Up to now, the rate of EVN customers paying electricity bills in non-cash forms has reached 95.59%; the rate of electricity bills paid in non-cash forms has reached 99.01%. To achieve that result, EVN has cooperated with banks and intermediary payment organizations to create many convenient conditions for customers when paying in the "digital space". At the same time, EVN has built a modern technology platform to serve the payment needs of customers nationwide; applying electronic contracts, integrating with the National Public Service Portal, integrating QR-code payment, and applying electronic invoices according to new regulations of the Ministry of Finance. EVN has also built the EVNConnect digital ecosystem, strengthening connections with digital transformation platforms of the Government, ministries, branches, localities, and partners to maximize the exploitation of national common data sources and provide electricity services, electricity bill payments on digital platforms, and so on.
Investment and construction work: Regarding power sources, the rotor of Unit 1 of the Ialy Hydropower Extension Project has been successfully installed. Regarding the power grid, in the first 7 months of 2024, EVN and its units have started construction of 55 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 62 power grid projects from 110kV to 500kV. In particular, EVN, EVNNPT, and its units continue to focus on implementing the construction of the remaining projects of the 500kV line project, circuit 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi section. In the conclusion announcement of the Prime Minister on July 29, 2024: The 500kV line project, circuit 3, from Quang Trach to Pho Noi section, has shortened the construction time, basically completing very important tasks such as handing over the entire route site to the construction unit, completing the full supply of steel poles and materials, equipment for pole erection and wire pulling; completing and energizing the Thanh Hoa 500kV substation, expanding the bays at the Quang Trach 500kV substation, expanding the bays at the Pho Noi 500kV substation; completing and energizing the Nam Dinh I - Thanh Hoa 500kV transmission line project. Besides, investment is duly focused on Lao imported power grid projects such as Monsoon - Thanh, Nam Sum - Nong Cong My 500kV lines, Dak Ooc 220kV switching station, etc., and key projects to ensure power supply in 2024 and the following years.
At the National Online Conference of the Government Standing Committee on Promoting Public Investment in 2024, EVN was also one of the units commended by the Prime Minister for having many public investment projects ahead of schedule, and making important contributions to socio-economic development in recent times.
Some other works:
- The Group organized a training conference for units to implement Decree No. 80/2024/ND-CP of the Government on the mechanism of direct electricity purchase and sale between renewable energy generators and large electricity users;
- The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 752/QD-TTg dated August 1, 2024, on separating the National Power System Control Center from the Vietnam Electricity and the policy of establishing the National Electricity System and Electricity Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) under the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC). Also on August 1, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 753/QD-TTg approving the policy on transferring the right to represent the ownership of state capital at the NSMO from CMSC to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
- Power units have increased inspection, guidance, and propaganda on safe electricity use, ensuring fire and explosion prevention and control at production and business establishments, old collective housing areas, mini apartments, households, etc., thereby promptly detecting and supporting electricity customers to overcome existing problems in electrical safety. In addition, units have continued to work with localities and electricity customers to ensure power supply in 2024 and electricity savings following Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023, of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity savings in the period 2023-2025.
Some orientations on work tasks in August and the last months of 2024:
For electricity production and supply:
- Coordinate with NSMO: Continuously closely monitor meteorological and hydrological developments, fuel situation, generator availability, and load growth to promptly update and adjust operating methods to ensure safe and reliable operation of the power system to meet the requirements of economic operation of the power system but also meet the goal of storing water by the end of 2024 to prepare for power supply in 2025.
- Power Corporations/Power Companies continue to closely follow the local socio-economic development situation to analyze the structure of load components, improve the quality of load demand forecasting; and continue to implement Directive No. 20 on propaganda and implementation of electricity saving.
- Power Generation Corporations and power generation units coordinate with the dispatch unit to update the mobilization demand in the last months of the year to adjust the fuel supply plan in a timely and flexible manner to ensure electricity production according to the system's needs. Strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure the availability and reliability of generators.
- Hydropower plants operate reservoirs safely during the 2024 flood season, optimally exploit water resources, and closely monitor and forecast the hydrological situation to have a plan to store water early in the final stage of the flood season to ensure the goal of storing water to the normal water level by the end of 2024, serving the demand for power generation, ensuring power supply for the dry season of 2025.
- The National Power Transmission Corporation operates the power grid system safely and reliably; prepares sufficient spare materials and equipment, reviews and effectively implements solutions to minimize transmission grid incidents.
- Units strictly comply with the Group's instructions on natural disaster prevention and search and rescue; prepare plans for storm and flood prevention, ensure the safety of dams and hydropower projects, ensure safety for downstream areas during this year's stormy and flood season, which is forecasted to have many unusual developments in storms and floods. Regarding construction investment: In August 2024, EVN continues to urge units to concentrate forces at construction sites, speed up the construction progress of key power sources and grid projects such as Ialy Hydropower Plant Extension Project, Phuoc Thai 2&3 Solar Power Plant, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant Project; 500 kV line project, circuit 3 (from Quang Trach to Pho Noi) and grid projects under construction to serve power source connection, hydropower source release, electricity import, load supply and power supply from the national grid to Con Dao district, and so on.
To ensure power supply for economic development and people's lives in all situations, EVN hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active cooperation of people and electricity customers through using electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 to 15:00) and in the evening (from 19:00 to 23:00). In particular, pay special attention to using air conditioning reasonably, only turning on the air conditioners when really necessary, setting the temperature at 26-270C or higher; at the same time, pay attention not to use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time during peak hours.
