Phu My Thermal Power Company has totally contributed 250 billion kWh to the national power system
Phu My Power Plant was born on February 15, 1997 with two first gas turbines of Phu My 2.1 thermal power project, having the total installed capacity of 288 MW, simple cycle, with the aim of satisfying the growing electricity demand for the construction and development of the country; at the same time the plant aims to consume the associated gas generated during the exploitation of oil wells of White Tiger oilfield.
On October 04, 2005, Phu My Power Plant was transformed into Phu My Thermal Power One Member Limited Liability Company (or Phu My Thermal Power Company in short) by a Prime Minister’s decision.
Until 2017, the Company has managed and operated 13 power units with the total installed capacity of 2,540 MW, being the generating organization with the largest installed capacity up to now which represents around 6.6% of the total installed capacity of the Vietnamese power system.
Phu My power plants supply more than 16 billion kWh annually to the national power system, constituting approximately 26% of the generation output in the South and about 11% of the total generation output of the power system. On peak days in dry season every year, the daily generation output of the Company is in the range of 50 - 57 million kWh, making up roughly 17% of the total generation output of the power system.
