The conference was held in the both live and online form and was live-streamed on Fanpage of Vietnam Electricity, Youtube of Vietnam Electricity - EVNNews.
At the conference, EVN and its member units reported the results of their implementation, and at the same time, it was an opportunity to exchange, discuss, learn experiences and cooperate with partners to create more applications for automation and digital transformation with high efficiency.
Production process automation will promote and bring about high efficiency in operating the power system continuously, safely and stably to further improve the quality of customer service. Currently, EVN has been promoting the application of 4th industrial revolution technology and is determined to basically complete digital transformation by 2022, transforming operations under the digital enterprises model by 2025.
Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of EVN's Member Board chaired the conference
In 2019, EVN's Member Board issued Resolution No. 51/NQ-HDTV "Some basic orientations of automation work in Vietnam Electricity", with the overarching goal of self-control and step-by-step mastering of technology. Up to now, after more than 3 years of implementing Resolution No. 51/NQ-HDTV, automation work has rapidly improved and brought efficiency in operation, exploitation, upgrading, maintenance and repair in EVN.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tuan - Head of EVN's Telecommunications and Information Technology Department presented a report on the automation work of EVN
Typically, EVN's engineers have basically mastered the integrated power plant distributed control system (DCS) provided by foreign firms, minimizing the need to outsource when encountering necessary-to-handling situations. The distribution and transmission division has been proactive in software exploitation and self-implementing integrated deployment services for control centers and substations. The data entry, database configuration, connection, testing, acceptance, grid diagrams drawing, operating parameters and limits set, control upgrading and system troubleshooting have been mastered.
Previously jobs had to depend on contractors such as signals, substations, bays declaring and expanding, integrating and deploying installation, declaration, configuration, pairing, testing and calibration from terminals at 110kV substation, Recloser, LBS have all been operated by EVN engineers on their own.
It is estimated that the self-implementation of deployment, integration, testing and calibration services should significantly reduce investment costs, saving about VND 900 million/substation, and VND 2 billion/remote control center.
The SCADA/EMS system has been mastered and exploited by the National Load Dispatch Center to effectively serve the operation of the power system with intensive features, ensuring the safety and stability of the power system despite the surging development of renewable energy sources.
Units have focused on well exploiting, real-time monitoring, analyzing and diagnosing the condition to early detection of defects and risks, early prevention of potential incidents, serving the safe and stable operation of the power system.
Especially, with the remote metering data collection system, EVN has built its own shared metering data collection and management software (EVNHES) throughout EVN. It can be said that this is the only software in Vietnam that can connect to all types of meters on the power grid managed by EVN. The data collection automation will free up manual labor, improve service quality for the Power sector, support the sector in customer care and have a long-term strategy in the use of human resources.
Not only that, EVN units have their self-developed products according to the "Make by EVN" criterion. In 2021, the units have registered 28 "Make by EVN" products. The Group has established a Review Council and has selected 6 "Make by EVN" products, of which 3 will apply for the "Make in Vietnam" product selection process organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
In 2021, EVN has developed and issued the "Digital Transformation in Vietnam Electricity Master Project " with the goal of basically complete digital transformation by 2022, operating under the digital enterprises model by 2025; In which, automation work plays a very important role in digital transformation, especially in the producing field.
EVN has determined that, with the 2022 work theme of EVN as "Safe, flexible and effective adaptation", the application of technology and power system operation automation needs to be ensured the achievement of the following objectives: Automation first of all to ensure safety and security for people and equipment; Automation helps electrical equipment and systems operation more flexible; Automation will bring efficiency and effectiveness from increasing labor productivity, saving costs and efficiency in professional administration.
