Power supplied to highland villages

In recent times, Lai Chau Power Company (Lai Chau PC) has effectively deployed investment capital to build, develop and modernize the power grid. Thereby, it not only improves the reliability of the power supply but also strives to supply power from the national grid to light up the highland villages, positively contributing to the socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and security in the province.

Returning to Dau Nam Xa village (Bum To commune, Muong Te district) after nearly 9 months, people here have been supplied power from the national grid.

Joyfulness of Dau Nam Xa village people (Bum To commune, Muong Te district) when being supplied with power.

Talking with Mr. Mai Van Manh - Head of the Management Board of Lai Chau PC Project, we have learned that: In 2024,  Lai Chau PC was approved by the Northern Power Corporation and temporarily assigned the construction investment capital plan with 8 project lists and assigned 2 additional projects in 2023. The project works were completed and energized in the first quarter of 2024, supplying power to more than 255 off-grid households and preventing the overloading situation in overloaded areas in the districts: Than Uyen, Tam Duong, Sin Ho, Nam Nhun, Phong Tho and Lai Chau city. In addition to performing a new power supply to off-grid households, the project also supplies power to 1,342 households far from the national grid in the districts and cities.

We learned that Lai Chau PC has been approved by the Northern Power Corporation and temporarily assigned the 2025 construction investment capital plan with 5 project categories, with a total investment of nearly VND 60 billion. The categories and projects will expand the medium voltage grid, build 8.9km of new 35kV lines and 15 substations, with a total capacity of 2.3MVA; build over 36km of new lines and renovate nearly 41km of 0.4kV low voltage lines. After completion, the project will supply power to more than 30 off-grid households in Pa Cha O village (Hong Thu commune, Sin Ho district), reducing the power supply radius for 915 households living far from the national grid in districts and cities in the province.
