The two projects are owned by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed by SPMB, and will be operated by Power Transmission Company 4.

Long Thanh 500kV substation is a special-grade energy project, with a total investment cost of about VND 958 billion. The project is located in Loc An commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province; the 220kV connection line is built in the territory of Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province.

The main scope of the project constructing a new 500/220kV substation includes the installation of two 500/220/35kV transformers with a total capacity of 900MVA, in accordance with the revised Power Plan VII. Installing 8 feeder compartments; in this stage equipment connected to 4 compartments has been installed; a standby plan is made for 04 compartments. There are 21 compartments on the 220kV side; equipment is installed for 15 compartments at this stage, reserving an area for 06 compartments.

Regarding the 220kV connection line, two lines of 04 circuits with a total length of about 16.4 km are constructed. The connection section No. 1 has 4 circuits including 02 circuits going to Long Binh 220kV substation, 1 circuit going to Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park 220kV substation, 1 circuit going to Nhon Trach Industrial Park 220kV substation, with a length of 8.3 km. The connection section No.2 has 4 circuits including 02 circuits going to Long Thanh 220kV substation, 1 circuit going to High-Tech Park 220kV substation, 01 circuit going to Nhon Trach Industrial Park 220kV substation, with a length of 8.1 km.

Long Thanh 500kV substation

Long Thanh - Phu My - Song May 500kV transmission line is a special-grade energy project, with a total investment cost of about VND 210.8 billion. The project goes through Long Thanh and Trang Bom districts in Dong Nai province. The project has a scale of building a 500kV dual-circuit transmission line from Long Thanh 500kV substation, being connected to a circuit of the existing Phu My - Song May 500kV transmission line, with a total length of about 16.8 km.

The completion of the two projects ensures electricity supply for the loads in Dong Nai province, part of Ho Chi Minh city and the Southern provinces; meeting the needs of socio-economic development of Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. The project helps to alleviate loads on transformers at Song May, Nha Be, Tan Uyen 500kV substations and the existing transmission lines in the area; Contributing to evacuating energy from Nhon Trach 3 thermal power plant and ensuring the N-1 criterion, strengthening the stability of the power system, improving the power supply reliability and safety of the regional power grid.
