The North Central and Central Coastal region includes 14 provinces stretching from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan. This region is of particular importance in terms of politics, economy, society, national defense and security, playing a strategic role in the realization of Vietnam Marine Economic Sustainable Development Strategy to 2020, with a vision to 2045.
Since 2016, the socio - economic development in this region has made significant progress. The average growth rate of gross domestic product (GRDP) in the whole region has reached about 7.62% per year, higher than the national average level. The regional economic structure has been shifted towards a positive direction, by increasing the proportion of service and industry sectors and gradually reducing the proportion of agricultural sector.

In 2018, the power sales growth rate in this region achieved 10.2%, the same as the national average level. The power sales of 14 provinces and cities reached 25.44 billion kWh, accounting for 13.2% of the total power sales of the country, of which the industrial and construction load category accounted for 39.5%.
EVN has constantly invested in developing on-site power generation projects. From 2011 to now, 8 projects with a total capacity of 4,306MW have been put into operation, including significant projects such as Nghi Son 1, Vinh Tan 2, Vinh Tan 4, Vinh Tan 4 expansion thermal power plants (commercial operation date in September 2019); Trung Son, Song Tranh 2, Song Bung 2, Song Bung 4 hydropower plants, etc.
Currently, EVN and its member units have been implementing 6 power plant projects in this area with a total capacity of 5,180MW which are of various generation types (coal fired thermal power, hydropower, gas turbine). In addition, EVN has invested in renewable energy projects (wind and solar power) in Quang Tri, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan provinces, etc.

Along with the development of power sources, EVN/National Power Transmission Corporation has continuously invested in expanding 500 – 220kV power grids, strengthening the transmission capacity of the whole system in general and 14 provinces and cities in the Central coastal region in particular.
As for power distribution grids, since 2016, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) and the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) have completed and put into operation 115 110kV power grid projects. It is expected that from now to 2020, they will continue to put into operation 98 projects at this voltage level.
In customer service activities, electricity services have been provided online equivalent to level 4 of public services. At the same time, customer care centers of EVNNPC and EVNCPC are receiving requests and providing services 24/7 through many channels such as: call centers, webchat, emails, social networks, mobile applications, etc.
