Starting Earth Hour 2018 Campaign: Go More Green

In the morning of 3 March 2018, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) officially launched the Earth Hour 2018 Campaign in Vietnam with the message "Go More Green". Accordingly, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang cities and 60 provinces and cities nationwide will simultaneously turn off the lights from 20:30 to 21:30 on 24 March 2018.

Attending the launching ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Deputy Director of Department of Energy saving and Sustainable development (MOIT), Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Deputy General Director of  Vietnam Electricity.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Deputy Director of Energy saving and Sustainable development Department calls on the national community to respond to the Earth Hour 2018 Campaign.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang called all individuals, families and enterprises to jointly combat the climate change with specific and practical actions.

Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Deputy General Director of EVN: all EVN’s officials and employees will actively respond to the Campaign with many practical activities.

As the main sponsor of the 10th annual Earth Hour Campaign in consecutive years, Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Deputy General Director of  EVN said that along with the task of making effort to ensure power supply for socio-economic development of the country and people's daily activities, EVN is fully aware of our responsibilities to the society in actively promoting propagandas and implementing solutions to use power economically and effectively.

For the Campaign, EVN called on all officials and employees of the Group and subsidiaries to actively participate, voluntarily turn off the lights and unnecessary electrical equipment at headquarters and at home during the main event; at the same time directed the power corporations/companies across the country together to support the implementation of propaganda and promotion activities for the Campaign, etc.

Youth Union organizations of  EVN and power corporations will join together with young people from all over the country to promote and protect the "common roof" for a beautiful world for us and future generations.

Representatives of MOIT, DOIT of Hanoi, EVN, sponsors and ambassadors conducting the launching action of the Earth Hour 2018 Campaign.

At the Launching ceremony, the Organizers also announced the persons who will be ambassadors of the Campaign, including: runner-up Thuy Van, singer Soobin Hoang Son, singer Bao Tram and actor Viet Anh.

After the launching ceremony, sideline activities for responding to the Campaign will be organized throughout March, 2018 nationwide such as: Committing to use power economically and effectively in enterprises, households, exchanging with schools, walking for the Campaign, applying posters, distributing leaflets, etc.

The main event - the ceremony of turning off the lights of the Earth Hour 2018 - will be live broadcasted on VTV1 - Vietnam Television. This will be an impressive remark reflecting strong commitment of the Vietnamese Government and people together with international community in the energy saving and environmental protection.
