Successfully energizing first 110kV digital substation in Ho Chi Minh City

On December 28, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) successfully energized Tan Phu Trung 110kV substation project - the first digital substation in Ho Chi Minh City.

Tan Phu Trung 110kV substation has a total investment of more than VND 220 billion, located in Tan Phu Trung industrial park, Cu Chi district, with a capacity of 2x63MVA (phase 1 installation and operation of 1 transformer).

Panorama of Tan Phu Trung 110kV digital substation

Tan Phu Trung 110kV substation is one of the first projects of EVNHCMC using PROCESS BUS technology - digital substation technology. The data collection system for monitoring, controlling, and operating the project uses digital technology to reduce the construction volume of the traditional secondary circuit while increasing operational stability and meeting the trend of digital technology application in all fields; replacing the entire copper cable connection circuit of the conventional automation station with a fiber optic system, making the data transmission and receiving from outdoor devices to the operation house fully digitized. Therefore, the transmission-receiving speed is fast and the accuracy is very high; while improving the safety and reliability of the power supply, reducing the risk of short-circuit during operation, and increasing the reliability of the power supply.

Tan Phu Trung 110kV substation fully meets the technical requirements for power grid operation, which control and monitoring of equipment in the digital environment. The digital substation will help reduce power outage time, minimize the risk of short-circuit incidents, increase power supply reliability, ease of repair and reduce maintenance costs.

When put into operation, Tan Phu Trung 110kV substation is expected to supply high-quality electricity for Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park and the Northwest urban area and increase power capacity for Cu Chi district.
