Flourishes in the ocean
Power current overcoming the waves to connect Tien Hai island commune (Ha Tien City, Kien Giang Province).
Mr. Phan Hong Phuc - Chairman of Tien Hai Island Commune People's Committee said: “Tien Hai is known as a tourist attraction, revenue from tourism accounts for more than 40% of the total revenue of the whole commune. Having power from the national grid supplied is also an important driving force, helping the islanders to fully and efficiently develop the household economic model, thereby strongly boosting the local.”
Since the power was supplied from the national grid, Mr. Bui Tan Cong's family has determinedly invested in expanding hotel and motel business. Mr. Cong said: “When there was no electricity, due to the use of diesel generator by hour, the price was very high, so the business was not efficient, my family only built 6 rental rooms. When there is power available, the family has invested and upgraded the motel up to 24 rooms, equipped with full amenities such as air conditioning, refrigerators, televisions, etc. I am confident that the business will gain more and more grow and efficiency".
It is known that Tien Hai island commune also possesses a special strategic position, making an important contribution to preserving national maritime security. This is also one of Vietnam's trade gateways to the Gulf of Thailand.
When electricity reaches over the island
Previously, the main source of power supplied to Tien Hai island commune was produced by diesel generating stations, which were invested from Kien Giang province's budget. However, the limited capital made it impossible to meet the electricity demand of the people in the commune.
Bringing electricity crossing oceanic waves and tides reaching out and lighting Tien Hai island is the effort and enthusiasm of the leaders and employees of the Southern Power Corporation in general and Kien Giang Power Company in particular. In the context of limited capital, construction on the sea faces many difficulties, but the project of power supply for Tien Hai island commune has been implemented on schedule, assuring the required quality.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hop, Chairman of the Member Board of Southern Power Corporation, said: “Bringing the national grid to Tien Hai island commune will succeed in the task of ensuring stable and stable power supply to most of the island communes in 21 southern provinces and cities. After 15 months of construction (from June 2018 to October 2019), the project has been completed, energized and put into use, meeting the requirements of progress and quality, serving production and daily activities of the people ”.
Thanks to the national power grid, the people have been in joyfulness and happiness with the hope that in the near future Tien Hai island commune will become a more beautiful and attractive destination in the South of the country.
